the beginning of the end

Upon reaching an important milestone in my high school life, I have not yet written a post.. so I thought it would be very appropriate to have my first post about homecoming.

Since we are seniors, there was a universal understanding that we needed to be as obnoxious as possible...
At my school, spirit week for homecoming usually goes like this: Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday are pajama day, throw back, zombies, or whatever; Thursday is class color day (freshman green, sophomore white, juniors red, and seniors black); Friday is school colors. Now it has become a ritual in our school for seniors to go all out on Thursday with the black attire and literally be as obnoxious as possible at an event called the senior black out. Basically, all the seniors gather and jump around shouting their graduating year. In previous years, this was done on the arts bridge that extends over Jackson. A couple years ago, the seniors almost broke it; so ever since then, the arts bridge was closed the Thursday of homecoming week, and people have had to cross Jackson to get to the arts building. So seniors after that occurrence have tried to have an epic blackout, but always failed. This year, we decided to make our mark.. by having the blackout on Jackson. Yep, we decided to block traffic for seven minutes just so we could have our time to be obnoxious. I have to say, it was a really fun experience. I remember a bunch of seniors gathering in the lobby of the arts building because we were waiting for the signal. However, the security guards started kicking us out because we were causing traffic in the halls. So, I guess that was our signal to block other traffic.

People took their cars and parked it on Jackson in front of the traffic to help this little blockade. They got fined for it and were banned from the homecoming dance, but hey, it was their choice.
Then there was the huge crowd of jumping teenagers just chanting '13. It was actually a pretty epic site. The teachers thought it was funny and all the underclassmen thought we were dumb. The juniors were able to appreciate our little game though. Dr Kenner... not so much. It is going to be pretty tough for the graduating class after us to top this!

This is us in the morning before the game! I am sad to say that we lost miserably to Lane Tech.
However, as we were leaving there was this gorgeous view.

So this is a photo from the night of the homecoming dance. The dance was alright, but the getting ready part was fun! I can't believe its already senior year. I'm going to miss all these people, but I am ready to start life in the real world.
